Taking a walk to clear my head
I am ambivalent about the art world. And fascinated at the same time. For some, art is a way to visually express ideas – sometimes very complex ideas – in ways that words can’t. But I need the words and often can’t “get” the art without an explanation. That frustrates me. Yet, sometimes the explanation brings an understanding and appreciation for ideas I had never considered before.
I admire the artists who start with a concept and then make the art.
It doesn’t work that way for me. I make the pictures and wait for them to speak to me.
