(Dead) English Ivy on the Japanese Maple

Backyard, Jamestown, NY
(Dead) English Ivy on the Japanese Maple

The story we were told when we moved in was that Hilda yanked the sapling from Panama Rocks and planted it by the garage. By the time we moved in, it was a “small” tree. Now… it’s pretty impressive.

I read somewhere that ivy climbing trees is NOT good for them, so last fall, I cut the ivy as near the base of the tree as I could and let nature take its course.
